CISS Installation

Preparations

1. Check whether all the accessories are ready. (CIS system, Chips,Air filters, Support Arm, Refill Kit, Instruction)
2. Check whether there's the leakage of the CISS, whether some tubes have been separated from the CISS, whether there are air bubbles in the tube.

Install chips
The new Epson cartridges have chips on them. If a chip gets damaged, it can be replaced.Of couse, you can separately choose chips and empty cartridge to install them by yourself. It is quite simple to either install a new chip, or to remove a chip from a working cartridge and install it on one that isn't working.

1. Move your cartridges to the left removal position by pushing the orange button or hold the paper feed button in (older printers). When the cartridges arrive at the removal position,
PULL THE POWER PLUG FOR THE PRINTER OUT OF THE WALL AND DISCONNECT THE INTERFACE CABLE (USB OR PARALLEL).

Remove the cartridges and then continue with step 2.

The power must be disconnected so that any corrupt data stored in the printer does not get written to the new chips causing them to fail prematurely.

2. To get chip off. Use a single sided razor blade and remove excess plastic from the top post holding the chip in place. Don't touch the bottom post. (On a new virgin empty cartridge that has never had a chip on it, this step is not necessary.)

3. Use a knife blade or thin screw driver blade to pry chip off of cartridge.

4. Slide new chip on to lower post. Don't try to force it over the excess plastic on the lower post. Take advantage of the U channel in the chip. When it is captured, then press the chip onto the top post.

5. If the chip is loose, remove it and then use a SMALL amount of super glue or equivalent on the back side of the chip to keep it in place. CAUTION... do not get any glue on the gold pads. If the chip snapped in place you will not need any glue.

6. Re-install the cartridges in the printer. Slide the cartridges back to the far right by hand. Then TURN ON THE PRINTER POWER and reconnect the interface cable.

WARNING: DO NOT PUT A CARTRIDGE WITHOUT A CHIP ON IT INTO THE PRINTER - IT WILL CAUSE FATAL DAMAGE TO PRINTER !!!

Install the Continuous Ink Supply System
1.Move out cartridge holder.Turn on the printer power, Press ink cartridge change button located on the front of the printer or please check your printer manual for the instruction and move the cartridge holder to the cartridge replace position, then unplug the power.so you can easily move the printer head later
2.Open the cartridges cover, if the cover is fixed, you need to dismantle it from the ink box before installing. If original cartridges are inside, please take them out in the first place. Insert the no-sponge cartridge into printer carefully, Place all four straight down into printer carriage. Starting from left to right, gently press cartridges until cartridges lock into place. Note: The cartridges maybe a little bit tight when pressing it down.Make sure that the cartridges are lock in place.

3.Fix ink tube and check tube length
Attach tubing bridge by removing adhesive protector and then placing it directly across from the arrow or place a little bit to the left of the arrow. See picture on the side.. When placing the tube holder, place it an angle to ensure the tube can freely move without interfering with the cartridge holder.

Move the printer head carriage all the way to the right, If it appears that the tubing is too short or too long, please make adjustments by sliding the tubing to the desired amount.

4.Check the printer indentyfing the chips

Insert the plug, and turn on the power switch check whether the printer works or not.

After installing CISS and turn on the printer power, the probable problem is that the red light on the printer is on, which indicates the red light has not detected the IC chips or an IC chip on the printer cartridge. Generally there are two reasons: firstly, the permanent chip inside the ink cartridge is broken, but whether the permanent chip is well or break can not be distinguished from appearance. Secondly, the chip is not at the correct location and not accurately detected by the printer. Currently there is no single standard for permanent chip, such as chip size, thickness and the volume, when replacing another chip, due to differ of the size and thickness, and it causes the printer can not detect the chip; The placed point of cartridge chip is not made accurately, and it will affect the accuracy of the fixed point of cartridge chip; Of course, if ink cartridges fall short of the standard size, it will cause the contact point of the spring on the printer is not allowed on the bit, so the printer can not detect a permanent chip.

Treatment:

1) About printers with holistic ink cartridges, such as EPSON 830U. To begin with, judge whether the chip on one or two cartridges has a problem, press the button for replacing ink cartridges, and the ink holder will automatically move to the middle, at this time observe the printer indicator flashing, and different flashes indicate different meanings. In general, if the power indicator and ink replacement indicator flash at the same speed, it means the problem with the black ink cartridge chip; if ink replacement indicator flashes more than twice speed, it means the problem with the color ink cartridge chips; if the ink replacement indicator lights for a long time, it means both the black and color ink cartridges, so cartridge chips can be checked specifically. Secondly, take the ink cartridge with defective chip out and keep flat on the table, and place a used cartridge nearby, then by comparison check whether the height of chip exists error in order to adjust. If the above still does not work, then exchange chip to a normal chip, and install to check if the chip is damaged.

2) About printers with separate ink cartridges, such as R210. Press the button for replacing ink cartridges again, and the ink holder will move to the left where there is a mark, which ink cartridges it aims to which color ink cartridge chip has not been identified, so it can be targeted to troubleshooting. in general, remove the ink cartridge, and then insert to the cartridge holder and align them. If it still does not identify, you can remove the cartridge, and put a piece of paper on the bottom of the ink cartridge, then install the chip.

Install Inks

1.Fill inks to the ink reservoirs

Prick two holes in the ink bottle, pull out the big rubber plug from the ink hole. Fill the ink reservoirs with inks from one hole. Make sure the ink colors are matched to the correct ink reservoirs.

2. Fill inks to the ink cartridges

Take a syringe, and cut the mouth of syringe "V" shape, in order not to damage the ink exit of ink cartridges and extract ink easily from ink reservoirs to ink cartridges. Then puncture the ink exit film, and put the syringe in ink exit to extract ink from ink reservoirs to ink cartridges. Make sure that the ink cartridges have no air. At last place the big rubber plug into the ink holes.

3. Place the air filters

Pull out the small rubber plug from the air hole, then place 4pcs of air filters into air holes, and the thicker side is down into tank.

4. Test printer nozzle

Select the option for printer nozzle check, print test sheet, if it is alright, you can start using the printer normally. If it is not, please clean the nozzle. If only line is missing for one color after cleaning several times, turn off the printer and let it stay turned off for one hour or more. The air bubble clogging up the nozzle is likely to dissipate, allowing you to print.

 Ink Amount Reset

It requires to change cartridges while printing and ink light flash. Press ink button to move out cartridge holder. Press chip reset button for 3 seconds, repress ink button to move back cartridge holder, then ink amount shows 99% again. Redo nozzle inspection and printer can run normally if it is alright. (Black and other colors can be handled by the same method).
Note: Distinguish two kinds of chips. The manipulation is the same. The difference is that the chips with transferred switch should be switched downwards, otherwise, chips can not be recognized.

Removing used continuous ink supply system

Replace air filters with air plugs. Move out cartridge holder and take the rack off. Take the cartridges out and place the cartridges on the tissue with the ink flow nozzle downwards, and let the printer at the same level with the system ink tank.

Refill Ink

Please pay attention to the ink level in the reservoirs, if the ink level is below 1CM, please add ink, pour directly or use refill kits to fill ink into the reservoir bottles. Carefully pull out the rubber plugs from the refill holes. (there is possibility of ink spattering. Be careful!) Refill ink according to the color in short supply. Then put the rubber back. (Please keep the printer and the reservoir at the same horizontal line during the process of refilling ink)
