Working Principle The light emitted from the light source becomes plane polarized light through the condenser and filter and the polarizing mirror, and the three share vision field of view is generated at the half-wave plate. Three conditions can be observed through the polarizer and the eyepiece group - A. Field of view greater than/less than zero; B. Field of view zero; C. Field of view less than/more than zero). Rotate the polarizer, only at zero, the brightness of the three parts of the field of view is consistent. When put into the test tube containing the tested solution, because the solution has optical rotation, the plane polarized light rotates an Angle, and the zero degree field of view changes. By turning the deflector to a certain Angle, the field of view with the same brightness can appear again. This Angle is the optical rotation of the solution, and its value can be read from the dial through a magnifying glass. After measuring the optical rotation of the solution, the specific rotation of the substance can be found. Based on the magnitude of specific rotation, the purity and skin content of the substance can be determined. |
